String quartet Pavadita
The name of this unique Dutch tutti tanguera quartet derives from the ironical title of a notorious finger breaking piece in the Argentinean Tango repertoire. Pavadita literally means 'a mere nothing'.
The same little eyewink goes for Pavadita string quartet. With apparent ease, Pavadita brings a wide range of tangos especially composed for string quartet as well as arranged tango's. Nevertheless, the quartet knows exactly what it's doing!

Pavadita's repertoire is extensive, ranging from tango's from the beginning of the tradition- starting around 1910 when pioneers like Bardi, Firpo and Canaro defined the very soul of the Argentinian Tango in times of crisis- to pieces composed at the high tides of Tango- the glorious 1940's when huge orchestras and celebrated soloists made big hits with classics by Di Sarli, Donato and di Angelis -and also the modern composers: Salgan, Piazzolla, Pugliese.

Pavadita's broad vision can not only be heard in their repertoire. Their choice of podia is equally varied. Pavadita performs in concert setting as well as in theatre. The quartet also performs in the bigger tangosalons, for where else can the intensity of the symbioses of tango music and dance be experienced.
Pavadita is delighted to regularly invite guest musicians, the choice of instrument often being very surprising!

Pavadita: Sophie de Rijk, violin, Ananta Roosens, violin, Laura Valenzuela, viola, Eva van de Poll, cello.
